This route travels through and around Harriman State Park and Bear Mountain State Park of about 70 miles in length. There is a longer variation that is about 94 miles. The start and finish of this route is near Harriman, NY. Both variations include the Cedar Pond Road - Tiorati Brook Road combination that forms the main climb in the Nancy Morgenstern (Bear Mtn.) Road Race. This route is not, however the same loop as the race course. It weaves in and around the two Parks, taking in various climbs along the way. There are a few short steep pitches, but not prolonged, as you might see in Vermont. The finishing climb has five switchbacks up to a ridge overlooking a lake near the Northwest corner of the Park areas.

It includes Lake Kanawauke Road (or Seven Lakes Drive in the longer variation), Cedar Pond Road - Tiorati Brook Road, Perkins Memorial Drive, Buckberg Road, Gate Hill Road, Orange Turnpike, and finishes up Arden House Road. This is a more interesting route and a better general training ride then duplicating the Road Race course, so perhaps when training for the Spring or Fall classic one can consider this, as it is along similar lines.

Roll down hill into Harriman, Arden House Road continues as Meadow Avenue past NYS Route 17, at Mary H. Harriman Memorial Park where the ride began, near the location where cars are parked.

Reverse the above driving directions to return to Ft. Lee, NJ.
